A TINY'S Very Own Miniature Dollhouse

There is life in 1/12 scale-- it's 1/44th scale!! It's so cool how my dolls can share my love for both dolls AND miniatures....
For those who don't know-- Bongie is a very small six inches tall Elfdoll, her room is an American Girl Iluma room, so as you can imagine, those are some TEENY dollhouses!
I am filled with such glee!

Keo on Sunday...

Some observant soul pointed out this morning that Keo's name is pronounced the same way as the boxing term "KO" and that he is indeed, a Knock Out. Do you agree?

Rut Roh...hubby saw the price tag on the shoes I just got from BJDollarama... He pointed and said, "Nuh Uh!!!!!" and I just kept talking like I didn't hear him...then after I said "Yeah, I told you I spent all the money from the sale of the last doll on clothes and shoes for Eleanor" and he said "That is more than my shoes cost!" and I pointed to the Volks Cristal outfit and I said "That cost more than my wedding dress." He hasn't said much since.

Blue Velvet

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars
She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours
Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left, gone was the glow of
Blue velvet

But in my heart there'll always be
Precious and warm, a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet
Through my tears

A Funny Post on the Zone of Zen

This one made me laugh out loud! Hope you enjoy it, too!

Zone of Zen
Subject: BJD related frustration.
(Posted by Carol in NJ on September 13, 2007, 10:19 pm)

Today I learned something new. I learned that the ladies and gents that sew for our resin kids earn every penny they charge. I also learned that circle skirts are not so easy to hem, and even harder to put a waistband on, especially if you are dumb enough to sew the back seam first. I also learned that sewing tissue paper thin fabric to a croched top...can really jam up a sewing machine. Another lesson I learned is that if you knock the container of straight pins off the table, you probably shouldn't walk around with bare feet. I learned that BJDs don't particularly like to be fit models. They kick and jerk and threaten to fall off the stands every time you try things on them. Mostly what I learned after 8 hours of frustration...is to spend the money and buy the outfits. I'm going to e-bay...see you all later.

Happy Birthday,
Dear Wilhelmina Faith!

Today is my Mina's first birthday with me. She came to Denver on July 12, 2006. So I created my first movie to celebrate. No music, though. I'm still trying to figure that one out!

Charlie and Bongie Nut

Oh the joys of instant bonding and fast friendships! On January 2, 2007 Bongie Nut (Bong Sun Hwa) came home. She tried to talk me into bringing home a sister for her to play with (Elfdoll Min Del Re), but alas, money does NOT grow on trees. Bongie Nut is a handful. She has too much energy and is constantly chattering and eating and just sometimes being a pain. A beloved pain to be sure, but a pain. The very next day, my Dollstown Lucille head came in the mail. She's borrowing Yuliya's body for now, but when I put it all together, Celia "Charlie" Louise came to life! Charlie is a tomboy. She's played with boys all her life and loves nothing more than playing the drums, rough-housing, snowboarding, gaming, and graphic novels. She blends right in with her crew. On the other hand, she's right at that point of blooming into womanhood, and secretly finds herself fascinated by girly things more and more often.

Now, Bongie is not exactly a girly thing-- and she's definitely more than just a doll. She has feelings, she's mischevious, and she's stubborn. There was an instant reaction between Charlie and Bongie and no one knew where this was heading.

Bongie Nut: NOOOOoOOo!!!!

Bongie: Uh! Grunt...

Bongie: Heh-hey, Charlie?

Charlie: What?

Bongie: High-Five!

Thankfully, both parties "checked out" and a strong bond has been formed. Charlie and Bongie-- pals for life.

This incredibly touching poem was posted on the Den of Angels on 1/4/07, 5:25a.m. I totally get it...

[what they've meant to me]
by starfall
Placerville, CA
they were my voices.
the voices of a child, maybe
their purpose clothed
in expensive shoes,
lacy dresses,
ridiculous props.
but they were my speech
when words had failed me
and they were my loves
when love seemed not worth keeping.
~
you see, I had given it up.
that living game.
I had a paycheck
I had a home
but in the distance between
my two destinations
I could find no good reason
to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
in the faces
that should have kept me walking
I somehow could only find
shadows of anger
and a disgust
at their joy.
~
so, I invented it.
I left this world
not by knife or pill or cliff
but by another road:
when I was little, they called it
make-believe.
as a bigger person, I called it
a better place.
and in faces sculpted by two artists
one, a talented hand and careful tool,
the second
only a desperate mind
I split my hurts into personality.
this is Mischa:
he does not trust you.
this is Viola:
she cannot be trusted.
Chie, who was betrayed;
Hazel, who fought back, and was punished
Cherian, who sought forgiveness for his sins
India, whose sins were beyond forgiveness
and me, the housemother,
who gathered them up
in an attempt to reconcile all
these broken selves
into a single story.
~
how many hours, days, dollars
did I spend?
I could not tell you;
I do not want to.
you would not think
they were worth it.
~
you would not.
but they were.
~
you see, it was not about the names
or the clothes
wigs
shoes
dollars
hours
wasted or well spent.
it was that
in the shape of their
fingernails
eye sockets
toes
I found humanity.
~
not theirs.
mine.
