Ah....there's nothing like going into the pre-spring garden at 7:15 in the morning! It was about 31 ºF and the sun had just stretched above the horizon. It was quiet, and only a few neighbors were out walking their dogs. A couple of curious people waiting at the bus stop at the corner tried to see what I was doing. The sky was blue, and the breeze still carried a reminder of Winter, but what a joyous morning it was just the same!
Hana Soah and I decided to try for an outdoor photoshoot. We were originally aiming for kind of a rock star album feel, but ended up with a mellow Pierce Pettis ambience. Oddly enough, though, it was the beautiful and ethereal melodies of Passacaille by Sylvius Leopold Weiss that filled my head as I photographed Hana.
It's funny how opposites can come together so perfectly sometimes-- Hana's Asian features and the bleached blonde curls; a silky robe over rough denim; the heavenly strains of a classical lute and the twang of an acoustic guitar; the warm sun and the icy air...
